Vacation & Learning
Often in the hustle and bustle of work, and just from general fatigue, we find ourselves lacking the time for learning and new courses. Recently, I returned from a two-week vacation (Italy, you are incredible 😍), rejuvenated with renewed energy and cognitive abilities. Upon my return, I was offered the opportunity to be a beta tester for an HR Analytics course. I accepted because it’s a fantastic chance to apply my knowledge in an educational setting and provide feedback to help someone enhance their skills ✍
I am approaching the course meticulously, not only because it involves a lot of work with Excel, but also because the feedback needs to be very granular and precise. It’s great that this format offers me many benefits as well, such as refreshing some knowledge, manual calculations (we all remember how well HRIS and ATS calculate certain metrics for us 😁 ), and revisiting the theory.
What’s my point? Vacations are an excellent time to dive into new learning or take a course upon return. There’s still plenty of energy left, and it can be channeled productively. And with data being the future, I recommend all People Ops folks to refresh their knowledge in this field and never forget about the metrics 🤝
