Better Not To Share Significant Information With Employees On Friday
Last year, I had a great mentor in internal communications, from whom I learned a lot about when, how, and what to communicate to the team. Additionally, my experience has solidified one important principle: it is better not to share significant information with employees on a Friday, such as dismissals, changes in organizational structure, layoffs, or motivation matters.
Even if the discussion is long overdue, it is crucial to a) select another day and b) prepare for communication, ensuring that employees do not head into the weekend with heavy thoughts.
Based on my experience, the aspect perceived most negatively is not necessarily the actual layoffs or dismissals but rather the segregation related to employment and motivation. This significantly impacts the loyalty of those employees who remain in the company and directly influences their future performance. In summary, avoid repeating such communication mistakes, and have a nice weekend 🥂
