HR Analytics in People Ops: Test Assignment

It is not often that you come across test assignments for People Folks roles that include tasks on HR analytics and pivot tables 📈

Recently, I encountered a unique test assignment from a company (about 1,000 headcounts) for a People Ops position.

Company A works with a lot of suppliers on five different projects. The supplier’s register is downloaded at the beginning of each month; these suppliers provided services to the company last month (Payroll table). Suppliers from the register must be paid before the 25th (including that day) of every month after the month of services provided. If a payment was not sent before the 25th, it is considered to be overdue (Payments table). Also, the payment may not be sent to a supplier for some reason. Your task is to analyze the timeliness of payments to suppliers from the register.

The tasks were both challenging and insightful, focusing on:

  1. Timeliness of Payments: Generate a report on the timeliness of payments to suppliers for each project, highlighting any significant deviations.
  2. Payroll Analysis: Provide a monthly payroll report by project, identifying any significant payment discrepancies.
